I completed a lettering course by Raphael Gibara at the Unhide School. To be approved it was necessary to go through a challenge. Below you can see my creative process and the final result.
THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to create a lettering choosing one of the themes given by the instructor. Regardless of the theme, the lettering would be made with the text "Unhide - School".
Following the challenge options I chose to do it with a child theme. Having in mind that the lettering would be good for a game, TV show or even a soft drink.
Even though the course teaches effects in illustrator I preferred to transform the lettering in 3d using Blender, generating a different kind of finish.
THE PROCESS
I made the sketches in photoshop, researched references and merged some ideas from the references with my own sketches. Then I created new layers in photoshop and improved the strokes. With the final sketch I went to Illustrator to vectorize, in it I decided to adjust the angles of the strokes, adjusted the spacing, thickness, etc. With the vector ready I went to Blender, made an extrusion, added vibrant colors, rendered and post-processed in photoshop's camera raw.
